WITH CONFIDENCE "MOVING BOXES” (2018)
Tyler really wanted to give the video range and a very composed narrative, so it wouldn’t become too much of only one thing. So he called for three narratives in the story: the past, the present, and the performance. This was a smaller budget video, so we had to make our time and resources count.
To give each narrative a distinct look we approached each differently. We shot for two days with a very slim crew. The past was shot with movement and mostly natural light. This allowed us to move to a bunch of different locations with a nimble footprint. The present was shot in one room, that allowed us to light and make it look more dramatic. We found a location that was affordable and also allowed us to shoot both performance and the present/apartment scene together. Oh, and we made the giant teddy bear, or rather, the skin was purchased and we stuffed it later. This allowed us do some loose puppeteering of the arms for a couple shots.
