YELP "PIPE DREAMS" (2014)

OBJECTIVE

Authenticity was the goal here. Ben and Pasqual had found real people with an underdog success story found on Yelp, so they would follow this person around to find the human qualities of life anyone could be thankful for. This would paint Yelp in an image as a tool to benefit small business, and so occupational dreams, even in the simplest of form, can come true.

APPROACH

We approached this like a documentary (because it was one). I had some other projects brewing at the same time, and couldn’t be there for the filming a good portion. But I didn’t want to slow them down so we hired a field producer to be there with the directors and make sure they had everything they needed with maximum flexibility. We shot over two weeks off and on.
